Congratulations to the Watchdog Oral Interp Team who had a terrific contest at the Region 1A Qualifying Tournament held at Vermillion High School on Wed. Nov. 16.

There are seven categories of Oral Interp in South Dakota.  Beresford advanced in five out of these seven categories and was the first alternate in the remaining two events of Poetry and Readers Theater.

Advancing to State and winning first place at the Region was 8th grader, Emma Andrews winning first in both Storytelling and Dramatic Interp.  Also winning first place was sophomore Haley Huot in Humorous Interp and sophomore Laney Andrews in Non-original Oratory.

Placing second and also advancing to the State Festival in Mitchell on Dec. 2-3 was the Duet Acting Team of sophomores Allie Westra and Keely Merrigan.

Sophomore Jameson Quimet was the first alternate in Poetry and the Readers Theater ensemble of Max Josko, Laney Andrews, Allie Westra, Keely Merrigan, and Haley Huot were also the first alternate.

The Region Contests consists of ten schools including Beresford, Canton, Dakota Valley, Elk Point Jefferson, Lennox, Parker, Sioux Falls Christian, Tea, Vermillion, and West Central.
