Alec Atwood Wins State "A" XC Title

The State XC Meet was held on Saturday, October 20 at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls.  Our Varsity Boys Team advanced by placing 2nd and the Varsity Girls Team advanced by placing 3rd in the Region 3A Meet at Lennox on Thursday, October 11th. 

At the State Meet, Senior Alec Atwood was the Class “A” individual champion, in one of the greatest finishes in the history of the State XC Meet, followed by his teammates sophomore Nico Sanz Curros, 14th place state medalist; junior Brandon Andrews, 40th; junior Matthew Hoffman, 59th; 7th grader Andrew Atwood, 65th; and senior Dallas Davis, 81st.  The Varsity Boys Team placed 5th. 

Also, congratulations to Alec who was named a Cross Country All-American!

Freshman Anna Atwood was the top finisher and state medalist for our Varsity Girls, placing 22nd, followed by her teammates junior Jaycee Fischer, 38th; sophomore Laura Bogue, 77th; junior Jordyn Fischer, 83rd; sophomore Gabrielle Engbarth, 97th; and junior Katie Knutson, 124th.  The Varsity Girls Team placed 11th.

A Welcome Home was held for the teams on Sunday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Runner’s Point.  Head Coach Matt Coy and Assistant Coach Dawn Coggins coach the Cross Country Teams.
