Watchdog

Greetings,

Thank you for taking the time to read through the contents of this message. The Beresford School District is planning for “Normal Learning” during the 2021-2022 school year. Academic classes will begin on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with in-person delivery of instruction. Because we received $623,527 from the Federal Government, we have two plans that need to be approved and posted by August 20, 2021. The two plans are titled “Return to Learning Plan/Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan” and “American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Requirement for ARP ESSER School District Plan.”

Think of the first plan as the document that describes how we will open the doors and keep the doors open. Think of the second plan as our spending plan regarding the available $623,527. Our First Readings for the two plans will take place on Monday, July 12, 2021. Public input/comment is scheduled during community input time at 6:30 p.m. Our Second Readings for the two plans will take place on Monday, August 9, 2021. Public input/comment is scheduled during community input time at 6:30 p.m. during our regularly scheduled board meetings that start at 5:30 p.m. in the Beresford Middle School/Beresford High School library.

To meet the requirements of the American Rescue Plan Act Elementary & Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ARP ESSER), the Beresford School District needs to re-evaluate our “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan” and “American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Requirement for ARP ESSER School District Plan” every six months. Items included in both plans speak to requirements set forth at the federal and state level.

You can find the two plans at https://www.beresford.k12.sd.us/page/arp-esser

We are looking forward to a productive, rewarding, action-packed, and memorable 2021-2022 school year.

Please do not hesitate to stop in, call, or email with your questions.
