NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP)
1.PROJECT INFORMATION. Beresford School District 61-2 is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to provide design build construction services for a school facilities public improvement project consisting of the replacement of two (2) existing roof top units (RTU-1 and RTU-3) serving the Northeast Classrooms of Beresford School District's South Campus, located at 301 West Maple Street, Beresford, SD 57004, including all required temperature controls, mechanical, electrical, and air testing and balancing work, all as further described in the Request for Proposal. This Project has been determined by the Board of Education, pursuant to SDCL 5-18A-6, to be one for which the use of competitive sealed bids is not advantageous and will accordingly be procured through competitive sealed proposals pursuant to SDCL 5-18A-6 and 5-18A-7.
2.PROPOSAL SUBMISSION. Proposals will be received until 8:00 a.m. CT on October 9th, 2026, at the office of Beresford School District 61-2, Attn: Dustin Degen, 301 West Maple, Beresford, SD 57004. Proposals may be submitted by hand delivery or by the United States Postal Service. Any proposal received after the stated time and date will not be opened or considered and will be returned to the contractor. Site visits must be coordinated in advance by contacting the District Superintendent.
3.EVALUATION, DISCUSSION, AND AWARD. Proposals will be evaluated on price and the other evaluation factors and relative weights set forth in the Request for Proposal, consisting of: price and total cost (20%); ability of the proposed personnel of the contractor to perform the project (20%); familiarity with the existing state of the District's HVAC infrastructure (20%); quality of performance on previous projects (20%); and ability of the entity to perform within the time specified (20%); no other factors or criteria will be used. Proposals will be evaluated, and the Board of Education will consider award of a contract, at a meeting of the Board of Education to be held on October 12th, 2026. Award will be made to the responsible contractor whose proposal is determined in writing to be most advantageous to the District, and written notice of the award will be promptly given to each contractor, all in accordance with SDCL 5-18A-7.

5.BONDING AND EXCISE TAX. Each contractor submitting a proposal must provide proof of its ability to furnish a bond covering faithful performance of the contract and payment of obligations arising thereunder, in an amount equal to the contractor's proposal if awarded the contract.
6.CERTIFICATION REGARDING PROHIBITED ENTITIES. Each contractor submitting a proposal must certify that it is not a prohibited entity, as that term is defined in SDCL 5-18A-1(19A), in accordance with SDCL 5-18A-51.
7.RIGHT TO REJECT PROPOSALS RESERVED. Beresford School District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received as a result of this Notice, or to cancel this RFP.
This RFP will be published online on the District's website on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
This RFP will be Published on September 24th, 2026, and October 1, 2026, in the Alcester-Beresford-Hudson Republic. The approximate cost per publication will be posted in the printed editions. This notice may be viewed free of charge on the statewide public notice website maintained pursuant to SDCL § 17-2-1.
