Homecoming Royalty 2020

Beresford High School is proud to present information regarding this year's Homecoming activities.  Homecoming week is from September 7-11.  This year's theme is "Watchdogs Take Flight."  

High school students will be celebrating Homecoming throughout the week with various themed days.  Students will kick off the adventure with "Tourist Tuesday."  Wednesday is "Dynamic Duo Day."  Thursday will be "Class Color Day (e.g., seniors black, juniors white, sophomores grey, and freshmen will be blue), and Friday remains as "Spirit Day."

Senior students selected their Homecoming Royalty the week of August 24.  Queen candidates are Laura Bogue, Kaitlyn Ellis, Makenzie Peterson, Amanda Schroeder, and Rebecca Tiedeman. King candidates are Isaac Andal, Joshua Limmer, Spencer Nelson, Brady Peterson, and Hayden Wilson.

The community is invited to join us on Monday, September 7 to crown our king and queen, to participate in our community pep rally, and to view the burning of the “V.”  Due to COVID-19, coronation, the pep rally, and the burning of the “V” will occur at Cortland Carnes Stadium at 7:00 p.m.  

Our junior and senior competitions will happen during the school day on Wednesday, September 9 (Iron Man Volleyball at 2:30 p.m.), and on Thursday, September 10 (PowderPuff Football at 10:30 a.m.).  Senior and junior parents may attend by registering in the office by the end of business hours on Tuesday, September 8.  

On Tuesday, September 8, our cross-country runners will travel to Garretson and our junior varsity and junior high football teams will host Garretson.  On Tuesday night, the Watchdogs will host the Dakota Valley Panthers in volleyball (e.g., C Match @ 4:45 p.m., JV Match @ 6:00 p.m., and Varsity @ 7:15 p.m.).  On Wednesday, September 9, our boys' golf team will travel to Vermillion.  On Thursday, September 10, our junior high volleyball teams will host Sioux Falls Christian at our elementary gym and our high school volleyball team will travel to Garretson to play in the Big East Volleyball Tournament. 

On Homecoming Friday, there will be no afternoon bus service.  

On Friday, our Elementary School students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m.  Elementary parents are asked to pick up their children between 12:15-12:30 p.m.  Mr. James will provide additional pickup details.  Elementary classes will not be walking or riding in the parade this year.  On Friday, Middle School and High School students will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m.  The Homecoming Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Parade line-up starts at the high school at 12:15 p.m.  Businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows and enter a float or vehicle in the parade.

On Friday evening, the Watchdogs will take on the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers at 7:00 p.m. at Cortland Carnes Stadium.  All seniors in Football, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Boys Golf, and Marching Band and their parents will be recognized before or during the game.

For all Homecoming Week events, spectators are asked to socially distance themselves away from those not in their immediate families to the best of their ability and masks are highly recommended.
