Watchdog Hall of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony

The second annual Watchdog Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held during Homecoming weekend on Saturday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bridges at Beresford.  There will be a catered dinner at 6:00 p.m. and a program and induction ceremony will follow at 7:00 p.m.  There will also be a social afterwards at the Bridges.

The Watchdog Hall of Fame Class of 2018 will be inducted in one of the four pillars of Academics/Achievement, Fine Arts, Athletics, and Distinguished Service.  Inductees include Beresford High School alumni whose achievements set them apart from their peers at the high school, university, or professional level.  Also included are others who have made significant contributions to the Beresford School District as a member of the staff, administration, school board, volunteer, or the general public.

The Beresford School District, Watchdog Education Foundation, Beresford Area Arts, and Beresford Athletic Booster Club will sponsor the Watchdog Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony.  

The following nine individuals will be inducted into the Watchdog Hall of Fame Class of 2018:  Academics/Achievement—Dr. Rosanne (Fitzgerald) Kirts, Dr. Luke Nordquist, and Brigadier General Russ A. Walz; Fine Arts—Mr. Ted Heeren and Mr. Scott Latendresse; Athletics—Mrs. Sandra (Erickson) Carnes, Mr. Koln Knight, and Mr. Bob Young; and Distinguished Service—Dr. Helen (Kennedy) Grace.

They join the inaugural Watchdog Hall of Fame Class of 2017:  Academics/Achievement—Mrs. Ann (Goltz) Tornberg; Fine Arts—the late Mrs. Grace (Kylling) Kennedy and Mr. Milo Winter; Athletics—Dr. Mara (McGill) Seier, Mr. Jim Heeren, Mr. Jim Sorensen, and 1st Lt. Josef Thorne; and Distinguished Service—Mr. Cortland Carnes. 

If you would like to purchase a ticket for the dinner, please call Rhonda Peterson at the Beresford School District office at 605-763-4293, email her at Rhonda.Peterson@k12.sd.us, or stop in the business office located at the south campus between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.  The cost of a dinner ticket is $20.  The dinner is being catered by B & T’s BBQ and will include a 10 oz. ribeye steak, seasoned roasted potatoes, mixed greens salad, dinner roll, assorted cheesecake, lemonade and iced tea.  The induction ceremony at 7:00 p.m. is free and open to the public.
