The South Dakota High School Activities Association’s State Visual Arts Competition for grades 7-12 was held in Rapid City on March 16-18 in conjunction with the state basketball tourneys. Beresford High School submitted entries in all 12 art categories and 7 Beresford students placed in the top 3, earning a gold, silver, or bronze medal.
Junior Brian Klarenbeek placed 1st in Traditional Cultural Arts (My Trusty Stick).
Sophomore Quinn Kribell placed 2nd in Drawing (Carrie Fisher Memoriam).
Seventh grader Solomon Saugstad placed 2nd in Functional Ceramics (The Cookie Jar Orb).
Senior Miranda Stuckey placed 3rd in Watercolor Painting (At the Car Wash).
Senior Emily Stimes placed 3rd in Drawing Colored (Gazing Fox).
Senior Chris Housken placed 3rd in Printmaking (Untitled).
Freshman Jordyn Johnson placed 3rd in Mixed Media/Graphics (Ok Ok Alright).

Freshman Gillian Wyatt in Three-Dimensional (Killer OR Survivor?).
As a team, Beresford High School placed 3rd in the class “A” competition behind runner-up Vermillion High School and state champion Spearfish High School.
